Long Beach, California
We operate daily, but our daily business is Feb through Oct!
Nov-Jan we may be traveling to warmer places so by appt only in winter or join us traveling!
Spring, Summer, & Fall Winds
Our local spot. Steady light sea breeze in Belmont with exceptional open beach and sandy bottom makes it a fantastic place to learn kiting. Plan on wind 12-6pm spring and summer. Fall may be less hours of wind and less often but is warm and uncrowded. Normally we do beg lessons in the early day for lighter wind, and more advanced lessons are best 2-6.
Water Temps and Wetsuits
Water is cool and wetsuit advised. Winter 4/3 full suit is advised as water can get below 60F and storm weather will bring air temps of about 50F. Feb 3 is coldest water of the year and by summer its up to 70F and a spring suit is advised, air temps may be from 70-85F.
We find some wind as storms come through but its not reliable and can be high winds and gusty and not right for rookies. Most locals travel to warm or snowy destinations for winter fun. See my travel page for ideas and wind reports in spots around the world.
Wind Reports Free
Note that the FREE LIVE BELMONT WEBCAM linked here and on our home page is the best current info, as you can see kiters live at the Belmont Spot for free, but it does not predict.
